Teacher Bulletin Board Ideas
Teachers often use teacher bulletin board ideas to display information or to add a little bit of color and brightness to the classroom setting. With that said, since so many teachers utilize bulletin boards year after year, it becomes more difficult to find ideas on how to make the bulletin board creative without redoing the same concept. There are a few tips and tricks to make a bulletin board stand out from previous designs. It only takes a little time and effort but the results are well worth it.
Think Out of the Box!
Every bulletin board has a theme, and many of these themes have been redone hundreds of times over the course of a few years. Think out of the box when choosing themes. When school time starts, there is usually a back to school theme. For Christmas, there is a Christmas themed board. Redoing these same elements for each theme is boring, not only for the children but for the teachers as well. Use themes that are relatable to the students. If your students are older, use a social networking theme like Facebook.com as a back to school theme. The facebook.com theme could be based upon an actual Facebook wall where there are simulated student posts that encourage getting to know each other or motivational phrases for the new school year. In either event, choose themes that are relatable to students. Not only will the students appreciate it but other teachers will also appreciate it as well.
Have Fun with Three Dimensional Designs!
Leave two dimensional designs behind and opt for three dimensional designs instead. Two dimensional designs are often the easiest to replicate because they are flat. However, for a true wow effect, use three dimensions instead. Think of a bulletin board as a pop-up book where the animations come to life. While the letters on the bulletin board may be flat and plain, make the other elements appear to pop up from the bulletin board's flat surface. Even though you can try to replicate a true pop-up book, sometimes this is not necessary. For instance, if the theme of the board contains trees or leaves, instead of paper tree cutouts opt for real or fake tree branches from your backyard or craft store. Real or fake tree branches give a three dimensional look while adding depth and character to the board. The same can be said for leaves as well. This makes the bulletin board appear more realistic than traditional bulletin boards with paper cutouts.
Share Online Ideas and Inspiration!
If you are having a hard time gaining inspiration for new themes and designs, don't be afraid to join online bulletin board communities where ideas and inspiration are shared. Sometimes, with so much to deal with at school there is not enough time to get inspiration let alone put decorating ideas together. There are communities for teachers where workplace communication tools, methods and techniques for different teacher bulletin board ideas and designs are on full display for your advantage.
While the bulletin board background design is an attraction within itself, also be aware that bulletin boards are supposed to send a message or host information. Never let a design overtake the message. Be sure to tie the message into the design and never let the design overtake the message or information. Always organize information or the message in an easy to read format so that it is easy for a student to read and understand.
