Jazz Up Your Menu to Improve Restaurant Revenue
create a word search puzzle

A restaurant menu should not be an afterthought; in fact, the design of your menu can directly affect your restaurant's revenue. Therefore, you should design the menu with your primary clientele in mind. Go through every item you serve and add it to the menu.

Come up with descriptions for each dish that please the senses. Keep it simple, no more than a few sentences but write descriptions that authentically describe the dish and make the customers mouth water. Food should be arranged in categories such as appetizers, entrees and beverages. Use bold headings to make each section stand out and give your menu some character by using colors and fonts that tie into your restaurants colors and theme.

Graphics can make a restaurant stand out and are a great way of advertizing special dishes. For example, you could place a star beside a house specialty or highlight the most popular dish served. Photos of dishes are also a great way of engaging visual appeal. Though it would be impossible to add photos of every dish without making the menu too long, one or two per page will make the menu more appealing. The trick with adding photos and other graphics is keeping a balance - you don't want the graphics to overshadow the text and make the menu difficult to read.
