Labor Day Clipart - What is Labor Day and How You can Motivate Employees

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States. It is a day that is set aside to honor workers who have added to the achievements of the American workforce.

The first Labor Day occurred on Tuesday, September 5 in 1882 in New York City. It was tied to the Central Labor Union. Then in 1884, the first Monday in September of each year was to celebrate Labor Day.

There is no clear-cut knowledge of who was the founder of Labor Day. Some record it as being Peter McGuire, who was the founder of the American Federation of Labor, but some records point to Matthew Maguire as the founder of the day.

Whoever founded it, the holiday is a great way in which to honor your employees for their hard work. Many companies figure the employee is getting the day off with pay, so that is thanks enough, but that is a federal stand, you can make your own celebrations prior to Labor Day and honor your team for the hard work that they have put into building the company.

You can do this by catering a lunch, having a party at work, having a dress up day, or any number of ways in which you truly show your appreciation for your employees. Use labor day lipart in the imagery, much of which is freely available on the website.
